Miniature Water Melon Vines,, I have seedlings emerging now and seeing that the last batch sold out so quickly (within 30 minutes) I am offering the same again,, More vines are also germinating now over 250, and  will be coming. These grow fast and are becoming extremely popular (especially in Victoria and NSW). More and more people are asking me how to grow them,,,, They are extremely well suited to Queensland weather,, With a taste of Cucumber and Lime, these are a staple in Mexican Cuisine and are affectionately called Sandiita in Spanish (little Melon)or Cucamelons These are also  monoecious, meaning they have male and female flowers on one plant and are capable of self-pollination.so they can be grown inside or outside, Similar to cucumbers, fruits develop at the base of female flowers. Wind or pollinators transfer pollen from the male flowers to female flowers. You’ll unlikely find these sold at the grocery store. If you’d like to try this vegetable, you’re best to grow it in your own garden, they add a lovely visual appeal and interest to your plate. They pack a burst of flavour and crunch, similar to cucumbers, yet are more fun. Eat them whole as a snack, pickled, chopped into salsa or salads, or in place of olives. On top of all this they are very healthy for you and are extremely Pest and Drought tolerant, unlike their cousin the Cucumber. The vines lose their leaves in winter, and you can lift the root ball and store in a cool dark place over winter to replant in spring. I’m trying this for the first time this year. When I dug them up, I was amazed at the size of the tubers that the plants had developed about a foot below the surface of the soil. I’ll replant the tubers in spring as apparently the plants will crop more prolifically and much earlier than in the first season of growth.
